Outed
Welcome to my new digs.
Just as I started to developed a bit of a readership at my other location, I discovered that two of my students had inadvertently “outed” me: one told another professor about my site (yes, I really am a professor) and another cut-and-pasted something I wrote and plastered my name and title all over it. So I’ve moved to this new location, and I’m going to try to rebuild a readership here.
Regardless of all the talk, academe can be a petty and juvenile profession. Even though a blog is just editorial opinion, the type of populism that I tend to spew is anathema to my colleagues, and no doubt I would be judged as intellectually inferior or unenlightened for publishing such blasphemy. So much for academic freedom, especially pre-tenure.
On the plus side, now I can be a little more forthright in what I really think (not that I ever held back much), I’ve done some things code-wise to tighten up the look of my template, and perhaps best of all I now can include a blogroll -- which I was always worried about having because I knew some guilt by association is inferred.
Anyway, I hope I can draw both old and new readers to this new url. If you like what you see, blogroll me, let me know, and I’ll reciprocate.
